Sukanen Ship Tour (Yorkton)
The Sontiainen (also known as the Sukanen Ship) is an interesting cross between Finnish and Saskatchewan history. Originally built by Tom Sukanen (hence the name), it was a madman's dream to sail back to his homeland.
Tom Sukanen
Tom Sukanen, the builder of the ship, immigrated from Finland to the US and eventually to Canada. When he finally decided to build his ship, he had gathered a small fortune for that time and used it all for ship material. He was so obsessed with building the ship that he started tearing his house apart for ship material.

RCMP Heritage Centre Museum
We will also tour the RCMP Heritage Centre. Construction began for this museum in 2005 to replace the original RCMP Centennial Museum, which was the first official RCMP museum in Canada. The Heritage Centre was opened to the public in 2007.
