The Great Sand Hills

A unique collection of sand dunes located right in our own backyard of Southern Saskatchewan near Cypress Hills. The Great Sand Hills are one of the largest collection of active sand dunes in Canada spanning over 1,900 square kilometres.

The dunes in the Sand Hills are a fascinating work of nature, as they are always moving and changing. Every time you visit the dunes will be different! It is also a sacred placed for First Nations people.

Located in Cypress Hills, a living fort from the 1870s, when the North West Mounted Police brought Canadian law to the West. At the Visitor Centre, learn the stories of the Cypress Hills Massacre and learn of its impact on the Nakoda people and on Canada in Southwest Saskatchewan.
